7 Mindfulness Practices for Addiction Recovery

    Addiction Recovery

It’s not easy to pursue a journey of recovery from addiction. Yes, you read that right, as it’s easy to make bad habits, but when we try to build a good habit, it becomes difficult. So it’s easy to get addicted to substances, but it’s still a wise and courageous choice to go on a journey of addiction recovery.

Well, if you are on this journey, then it’s not possible that I won’t help you. I am always ready to help those courageous people who want to say no to slavery through substances. Let’s see these 7 mindfulness practices for addiction recovery.

    1. Mindful Breathing:

Yeah, I know it seems like a very light and neglected topic when we talk about breathing, but trust me, it helps you very slowly.

Regular, deep breathing will be a great help for you. Breathing has numerous benefits that you can’t count with your five fingers. Controlled breathing can help regulate your nervous system and also help you relieve mental stress, which helps in addiction recovery. So do not ever underestimate deep breathing.

    2. Meditation:

Meditation is not a fancy word but a great medicine for your mind. Numerous studies say that meditation helps you calm your mind and gives you confidence. Addiction Recovery needs your mind to be determined because sometimes people quit and then go back to those substances eventually. That is why the recovery journey needs determination. If you still lack that determination, try visiting a Southern California rehab facility for help.

    3. Body Scan:

Have you ever heard about this term, body scanning? Now let me take you towards the light, as this helps in addiction recovery.

The body scanning technique lets you focus and give attention to every part of your body. This scanning can start at dawn. You can also start from your toes and move upwards until you reach your head. This will definitely help you to increase your body awareness, which will eventually help you in your addiction recovery.

    4. Mindful Walking:

So if I suggest you walk, I know you will say that yes, I walk, but there is a question from my side: do you walk mindfully? We walk, but we don’t walk mindfully. You just have to be aware of every step and your surroundings. This practice will be great for you to be in the present moment and enjoy small things, which will stabilize your well-being. If your well-being is good, then recovery will be smoother.

    5. Mindful Eating:

You have heard from different fitness lovers why you should eat mindfully, but mindful eating not only helps physically but also psychologically. You can taste every bit and be aware of what you are eating, which will not let you go back to your substances at any time.

    6. Gratitude Journaling:

Indeed, life is not easy for everyone. It’s not as easy to get food as you think because maybe you can use your phone to order tasty food, but do you think everyone is that privileged? Well, sadly, no, that’s not true. So if you can do that order from your phone, you should be grateful, and if you are, write it down.

Writing a journal helps you a lot mentally.

You can also write about your addiction recovery journey and how you became a fighter to choose the right path.

    7. Yoga:

Everyone around the world is engaging regularly in yoga sessions because of its great health and mental health benefits. If you want to recover faster, never leave yoga behind; take it with you on this journey and enjoy peaceful yoga sessions.

    Conclusion

In the end, I can only suggest, but if you follow or not, it’s up to you. You can follow all of these 7 practices, or you can just start with one or two of them. It’s absolutely up to you. Do whatever feels good for your recovery journey from addiction, as you know yourself better than anyone outside. I seriously hope you will recover successfully and that my suggestions will not go to waste. Whether yoga works for you or breathing, try them at least a few times to get to know each of them.
